 Top 20 All-Star Game Recap

Hollis Thompson, Roberto Nelson, Michael Snaer, Justin Hawkins, Kevin Young, Cezar Guererro and Anthony Brown were all on display at The Full Court Press All-West Top 20 Game…In the end the Black Team defeated the White Team 104-97 in an entertaining matchup…

Black Team

6’8 Sr. Hollis Thompson from Los Angeles (Loyola) CA Led the way with 15pts, 11 boards and 3 blocks. Thompson is very active and his ability to take over games appears to be improving at a rapid pace…He played mainly in a Point Forward role and showed he has range out to the 3pt arc. Hollis told us with a smile that he is still committed to the Georgetown Hoyas. Top 15-30 prospect in the class of 2009.

6’3 Sr. Anthony Marshall from Las Vegas (Mojave) NV was 3 for 3 from the field for 6pts to go along with his 3 assists. One day prior, Marshall informed us he likes Virginia, Gonzaga, Washington, UNLV, SMU, James Madison, Colorado State and Marquette. He’ll finish out the summer as a member of the Las Vegas Prospects at the adidas Super 64 in his hometown of Las Vegas.

6’5 Jr. Anthony Brown from Huntington Beach (Oceanview) CA slashed his way to 6pts to go with 2 rebounds…Brown has Top 25 potential and currently likes Texas, UNLV, Georgetown, Indiana, UCLA, Arizona, USC, Arizona State, Washington, Washington State, Cal and Stanford as potential college destinations.

6’6 Jr. Ryan Okuudibonye from Huntington Beach (Oceanview) CA - finished with 10pts (including 2 three pointers). This 2010 sleeper has a nice future ahead of him.

6’1 Jr. Deonta Burton from Compton (Centennial) CA finished with 9pts and 2 boards.

White Team

6’3 Sr. Roberto Nelson from Santa Barbara (HS) CA tied with a game high 16pts to go along with his 5 rebounds and 2 assists…Nelson told us he’s considering USC, Washingon, UCLA, Cal, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, Florida, Nebraska and Maryland. He’ll travel with his Compton Magic team to The adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas and finish out the summer with the same outfit while competing in the FullCourtPress End of The Trail Classic.

6’5 Sr. Michael Snaer from Moreno Valley (Rancho Verde) CA beasted his way into the lane where he finished at rim level (on one occasion an emphatic dunk) on his way 13pts, 4 assists and 3 boards. Missouri, Florida State, UCLA, UNLV, USC, Marquette, Arizona all have offered this talented SoCal off guard…

6’4 Sr. Justin Hawkins from Woodland Hills (Taft) CA This human utility knife scores the basketball, rebounds well and is a better passer than he’s given credit for…Hawkins stat line was impressive finishing with 11pts, 5 boards, 3 assists and 2 steals…UNLV Pledge…

6’7 Sr. Kevin Young from Notre Dame Prep(MA) tied with a game high 16pts on the heels of a great Reebok All-American Camp in Philadelphia…Young is being courted by the likes of Missouri, Florida State, Marquette, UNLV, Oregon State, Boston College…

5’11 Soph Cezar Guerrero from Bellflower (St. John Bosco) CA scored 10pts and made a made a variety of smooth passes both in a half court set and in transition. Young Cezar has an early list of UCLA, Arizona, Texas and noted he also likes Memphis, Oregon, Oregon State, Marquette and Florida…

6’7 Sr. Marcus Ruppel from Glendale (Deer Valley) AZ did his part scoring 9pts and grabbing 7 rebounds…

Notes/School List Central 6’9 Jr. Jeremy Tyler from San Diego (HS) CA.   Just who is the top player in the Class of 2010? It might be a little early to say, but Tyler is at least in the argument. The long and strong San Diego native reminds many of Amare Stoudemire, others call him a more athletic version of Elton Brand, one respected talent evaluator even brought up Chris Webber, but at this point it is tough to validate any of those comparisons. He’s best when operating on the low block and even from the high post…shoots it to 3 point range. His greatest flaw you ask? Tyler is quick to senselessly handle the ball in the open floor-where he’s prone to turning the ball over with strong regularity…Tyler mentioned he is open as far as his recruitment-he also notedUSC has/is recruiting him the hardest…6’8 Sr. Colin Borchert from Glendale (Kellis) AZ Listed UCLA, Nevada, Cal and mentioned he might pledge toMaryland sooner than later…6’7 Sr. D’Sean Anderson from Inglewood (HS) CA Long/rail thin SLEEPER told us Miami-FL, Arizona?, UTEP, Auburn and Nevada all have a shot at landing him…Deadly streak shooter…6’4 Sr.Mike Cutright from Las Vegas (Cimmaron) NV Physical Wing who shoots the 3…List includes Western Michigan, McNease State, Marquette and Utah. Might be transferring to a high school in Louisiana…6’5 Jr. Thurman Woods from Compton (Dominguez) CA Another physical wing type who likesMontana State, Long Beach State, Santa Clara and Fresno State. He’ll suit up for Belmont Shore at The Reebok Summer Championships in Las Vegas…6’1 Sr. Teandre Hubbard from San Francisco (Sacred Heart) CA told us he likes Portland, Colorado and Fordham…6’4 Jr. Ben Vozzolafrom Las Vegas (Centennial) NV, 5’10 Jr. Keith Shamburger from Laverne (Lutheran) CA, 6’3 Sr. Will Ervin from Long Beach (Jordan) CA and 6’3 Sr.Deshawn McCoy from Los Angeles (Westchester) CA, 6’1 Sr. Derek Brownfrom Chino Hills (HS) CA are all sleeper types that college coaches should take notice of …6’4 Jr. Kareem Jamar from Los Angeles (Westchester) CA a fine 3 point shooter/slasher listed Portland and Lehigh…6’6 Sr. Kyle Richardson from Lakewood (Mayfair) CA made mention of Lehigh, Princeton, San Jose State and UC-Irvine…Elite 6’3 Sr. Darius Morris from Los Angeles (Windward) CA sat out due to injury but gave us a school list of Michigan, Kentucky, USC, Arizona and Stanford…6’11 2007 Michael Vantrimpont from Los Angeles/France/? Gave us a list of Long Beach St(None Binding Verbal), Nevada, St. Mary’s and San Jose State…6’2 Jr.Vaughn Autry from Gardena (J Serra) CA will consider Portland, Iowa andUtah State among others…6’8 Sr. Darnell Shumpert from Tucson (Santa Rita) AZ told us St. Mary’s, Denver have shown interest but that he is wide open.
