Tar Heel Nation Dominates Hoop Masters Tournament at HAX.
February 18, 2009

Tar Heel Nation came from the Inland Empire to dominate the Hoop Masters President’s Day tournament at HAX. The Tar Heels either won or placed second and every age division, including the D 2-14u division. The Tar Heels, under the leadership of Charles Matthews has been a powerful program for years and it looks like they are fully stocked to have a very competitive travel Ball season.
14u D1 Report. - Cal Supreme shows their muscle in taking the 14u D1 championship.
Cal Supreme went undefeated winning their pool and beating the Tar Heels in the finals by a score of 59-53. #24 Rashon Prince led all scorers with 27 points and # 33 Byrant Alberts was second leading scorer with 15. The Tar Heels let Cal Supreme get up by 12 points and then they fought back within 3 with about 40 seconds to go, but couldn’t get over the hump. The Tar Heels we led in scoring by #15 Jordan Matthews and who scored 17 points and # 33 Aaron Peck who scored with 15 points. It was once of the better games of the tournament. I look forward to seeing these teams square off again.
Other Top players at this tournament in this Age Division are:
Parker Cartwright- Hoop Masters Averaged 17 points a game for the tournament. Parker is a true 7th grader by age and is one of the best guards in the country.
Jordan Wilson-Hoop Masters- averaged 12 points a game is hard to guard when he decides to play at his best.
Mtume Armour- Hoop Masters- A guard who plays big D and always is assigned to the other teams most athletic player.
Isaac Hamilton-ICAN – Averaged 22 a game, and is the spitting image of his brother. Looks like a much better player when his shot selection has a conscience.
