Marshall Fundamental (Pasadena) defeated Paraclete in a league game played in Pasadena High School on Saturday January 12, 2008.
Coming from a disappointing loss from Vasquez Canyon High School (48-49) two days earlier, Paraclete started the game sluggishly and allowed the Eagles to soar to an 18-8 lead at the end of the first half. The game looked headed the way the two teams first met when Marshall thumped Paraclete by twenty points. But the Spirits started to play in the third quarter, with key steals and rebounds by Paraclete's John Milner that turned into easy baskets for his team. Down five points (25-20) after 24 minutes, Paraclete looked to their point guard Roderick Mendoza to score and he responded with an array of shots: from beyond the arc, through the alley and from the free throw line where sank all his six attempts in the quarter. The Spirits came within one (37-36) with seconds remaining in the game but that was as close as they could get as Marshall hung on for their second win against the team from Antelope Valley.
