2010 Fairfax High State Preview Classic Recap

North Torrance 63, Fairfax 51 (girls)
Kelly Kika scored 14 points, including four 3-pointers to lead North Torrance to a 63-51 victory against Fairfax in the opening game of the day.
 
Kika was helped on offense by Kristen Dresser and North Torrance improved to 19-2 with the win.
 
Freshman John'ea Thompson scored 19 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Lions (12-10), who will challenge for the L.A. City championship.
 
Fairfax led most of the way but Kika's hot shooting in the second half proved to be the difference.
 
 
Windward 67, La Canada 58
Junior big-man Wesley Saunders poured in 24 points, often shedding La Canada defenders on his way to the basket.
 
Windward's athleticism and size wore down the outmanned Spartans (17-5).
 
Saunders had plenty of help on offense from sophomore Luke Silverman-Lloyd, freshman Chauncey Hill, freshman, Jordan Wilson and freshman Charles Dawson.
 
 
Campbell Hall 49, El Camino (Oceanside) 48
Despite not having stars James Johnson and Austin McBroom, the Vikings eeked out a one-point win thanks to a huge 3-pointer from Cole Huff with under 30 seconds remaining.
 
Chris Gorman had a chance to win it for El Caminobut missed a tough long range 3-pointer at the buzzer.
 
Huff had 16 points to lead Campbell Hall. Gorman led El Camino with 15 points.
 
 
Torrey Pines 52, Santa Monica 47
Torrey Pines was missing Joe Rahon and Santa Monica was without Solomon Singer but this game went down to the wire as well.
 
Nick Kerr, the son of former NBA sharp-shooter Steve Kerr was hot early, hitting four 3-pointers to get Torrey Pines ahead.
 
Santa Monica tried to come back behind 16 points from Corey Walker and 13 points from James Montgomery but could not complete the rally.
 
 
Price 90, Crenshaw 86 in overtime
In easily the best game of the night, Price rallied from a late five point deficit to force overtime and eventually outlast the pesky Cougars.
 
Cal-bound Allen Crabbe lit it up for 38 points while another Cal-bound player, Richard Solomon added 17.
 
Montana-St.-bound guard Casey Trujeque had 12 points and Askia Booker added 10.
 
Reynaul Baker and Abdul Zaid put on a show with 33 and 26 points respectively to lead Crenshaw.
 
Crenshaw also featured freshman standout Isaac Hamilton (brother Jordan stars at Texas), who contributed 14 points.
 
 
Taft 71, Serra 64
The Toreadors jumped out to a 9-0 lead and extended it to 33-15 before Serra woke up.
 
The Cavaliers, who had a 19 game winning streak coming in closed to within 50-47 near the end of the third quarter but never got closer.
 
De'Andre Daniels had 25 points, Pierson Williams had 14 and Bryce Jones added 11 to lead Taft.
 
Vaughn Autry scored 23 points for Serra, who only got eight points from Keith Shamburger.
 
Williams made a 3-pointer to close the third quarter and another one from the right corner to open the fourth quarter and put Taft back in control.
