Sylmar's Tyler Honeycutt couldn't lead the Spartans to an outirght Valley Mission League championship or past the second round of the City Section playoffs this past season but he came through for the City Section all-stars in the Collision game at El Camino College in Torrance on Saturday.

Honeycutt scored 39 points on nine for 10 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the City Section in a 113-109 victory over its counterparts from the Southern Section.

Honeycutt was named M.V.P.

The City led by as many as 23 points in the first half and 17 in the second but saw its lead vanish when the Southern Section went ahead 109-108 with 1:55 remaining.

Taft's Justin Hawkins made a 3-pointer to put the City back on top and it hung on for a very entertaining victory according to many in attendance.

Taft's Michael Williams, the Daily News Player of the Year, scored 16 points with four 3-pointers for the City Section team.

Texas-bound Jordan Hamilton poured in 39 points to lead the Southern Section.

Hamilton didn't play during the high school season because he was not granted a fifth year of eligibility by Southern Section officials back in November.
