The El Camino Real of Woodland Hills girls basketball team has big expectations this season.
The Conquistadores got off to a rough start with losses to Harvard-Westlake of North Hollywood and Chaminade of West Hills but got their first win of the season Tuesday in a 77-14 victory against
Golden Valley of Santa Clarita in pool play of the Calabasas tournament.
Expectations are still big with its first win under the belt.
"We came out on our game today," El Camino Real guard Sarah Rebibo said.
Rebibo scored 14 points and was one of three players in double figures for the Conquistadores.
"I think we turned things around a little bit, we played like we are capable of playing," Rebibo said."
El Camino Real scored the games first 10 points, including eight from Bahar Rohani and cruised to the easy win.
Rohani finished with 15 points and Brooke Amenta added 12.
"I think things will fall into place for us, we have been together for three and four years now," Rebibo said. "We have been waiting for the opportunity to play teams at a high level and we just have to adjust to it now."
El Camino Real reached the Invitational championship in 2007 and the quarterfinals of the City Section's top division last year.
The Conquistadores are expected to battle Taft of Woodland Hills, Chatsworth and Birmingham of Lake Balboa for the West Valley League championship.
"It is all about momentum," Rebibo said. "We have to hustle every minute."
