Newbury Park HS Job Opening Update

Jack Pollon

April 30, 2009

El Camino Real of Woodland Hills boys basketball coach David Rebibo is not going anywhere.  Rebibo confirmed via text message he was offered the position at Newbury Park but turned it down to remain at El Camino Real.

Rebibo has changed the culture of the program in his first two seasons because of his enthusiastic attitude and great support from the administration.

"It was a tough decision but we have done a lot of good things here and I wanted to see things through," Rebibo said. "I couldn't leave the kids who have worked so hard and are excited about next year."

The Conquistadores return Corey Ingram and Keith Dawkins as players to build around and also picked up transfer Dushon Carter from Renaissance Academy of La Canada.

Carter attended Taft of Woodland Hills and Reseda his first two years before leading Renaissance in scoring last season.

Now the question is where does Newbury Park go from here.

The school could offer the position to former Thousand Oaks player Kyle Kegley.
Other names that have come up in coaching circles are Jeff Perrault, Ed Chevalier and Gary Grayson.

It is believed that Jeff Young, Terry Kelly, and Rob Bloom are not candidates any longer or never were.
